User fields use (Manager ID, department, MAIL ID,...)

Hi all,

Could someone tell me when we really need or which application need the following user field information:

- Manager ID,

- Department,

- Mail ID,

- ...

These field are not anymore modifiable when we synchronize with Active Directory.

any suggestions.
