Using BAT to install multiple users in Unity CX 8.5

Morning all,

hope you can help. I have a UCM/CX cluster up and working. I want to bulk add users into Unity CX as I did with UCM using BAT. When, trying to add in  the example offered in

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/2x/user_mac_cmbe/guide/6xcucmbemacappa.pdf

of the below

Alias,DisplayName,FirstName,LastName,TemplateAlias,Extension,ListInDirectory

iwinkler,"Winkler, Ian",Ian,Winkler,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5321,1

jsmith,,John,Smith,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5126,1

cjones,"Jones, Cris",Cris,Jones,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5249,1

dalbert,,Dan,Albert,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5299,1

jlee,"Lee, Jane",Jane,Lee,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5324,1

jthompson,"Thompson, Jim",Jim,Thompson,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5029,1

swong,"Wong, Sara",Sara,Wong,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5260,1

rhunter,"Hunter, Russ",Russ,Hunter,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5229,1

cashmore,,Carol,Ashmore,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5403,1

lcarson,"Carson, Lauren",Lauren,Carson,VoiceMailUserTemplate,5999,1

I constantly get errors saying "missing required colum: alias" etc, it even says

"missing required colum:" and lists the whole top row of the CSV.

Anyone seen this before?

Re: Using BAT to install multiple users in Unity CX 8.5

Hi Carl,

Can you try creating a test user using the attached .csv. I just used it on a

7.x system to verify it's success. I also chose the Override to input the Template selection

instead of including it in the .csv as I always had more success using that method;

Override CSV Fields When Creating User Accounts

Cheers!

Rob!

Genius, this worked. So is it just a case of using the overide to get this to work?

Using BAT to install multiple users in Unity CX 8.5

Hi Carl,

Good stuff! You now have a user named Bob Uncle

The other thing I noticed in your file was the use of quotation marks and

this reference in the online help within Unity Connection. With all the users we have

Bat'd in we never use "..."

  • If any data includes a space, quotes, or commas, contain it within  quotes.
  • We recommend that your data not include double-quotes  because it can cause problems with interactions with external servers. If the  data does include double-quotes, place an additional double-quote next to each  double-quote. For example, if the data is My "Spare Phone", the entry must be My  ""Spare Phone"".
Maybe you can try entering the users without any commas or quotation marks as well.
    Cheers!
    Rob
