Using E1 card for Voice Communication

Dear All,

Currently we are using E&M cards at our voice router for connectivity with PABX.

PABX (Head Office) --> Router (Head Office) --> Router (Remote) --> PABX (Remote).

Above is the topology which we are using right now. Due to less voice channels, we have bought E1 cards for routers and for PABX both. We have connected E1 cards at both ends. But here is what i am having problems configuring.

Following are the basic configurations that we have done on our router as a test case.

network-clock-participate wic 0

isdn switch-type primary-net5

voice-card 0

dsp services dspfarm

voice service voip

controller E1 0/0/0

clock source internal

pri-group timeslots 1-31

interface Serial0/0/0:15

no ip address

encapsulation hdlc

no logging event link-status

isdn switch-type primary-net5

isdn overlap-receiving

isdn incoming-voice voice

isdn T310 60000

isdn bchan-number-order ascending

no cdp enable

By this configuration i am just trying to get a dial tone which i get untill i assign a dial-peer to it.

dial-peer voice 1000 pots

destination-pattern 8*T

port 0/0/0:15

prefix 8*

The tone just vanishes away after configuring this dial-peer. Any recommendations or suggestions. Alos, any help in configuring this scenario will be great.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Using E1 card for Voice Communication

Check to see if the dial-peer pots are configured with the direct-inward-dial command. This command disables dial tone from the voice port. If you remove the direct-inward-dial command from the dial-peer pots, then the digital voice port provides dial tone.
