If I dial a branch office by an extension from my Cisco phone that has 4 PSTN trunk lines instead of a PRI am I still using up a trunk or am I on the LAN and not hogging a phone line ?
If you are simply dialing internal extension and connecting via WAN/LAN then you are not hogging the phone line. To validate you can do "sh voice call summary" for example on that remote site's GW to confirm there are no lines in use.
