VG224 and MGCP-controlled PRI

Hello,

i have

- a cisco 2951 with 2 E1 interfaces controlled by a cucm 8.6

- a VG224 controlled by MGCP

I have many (many) troubles with faxes inbound. They seem to work randomly

Current setup is with modem passthrough and NSE, on both sides I have:

voice service voip

fax protocol none

modem passthrough voip mode nse

mgcp modem passthrough voip mode nse codec g711alaw

I would like to have some feedback on this configuration, and/or suggestion about different setup...

Thanks in advance

Hi,

On the 2951 ensure that the clocking for the E1 TDM is correct.

You need something like this:-

But with your card numbers etc

!

network-clock-participate wic 0

network-clock-select 1 E1 0/0/0

!

This has to be correct for faxing.

Veify with

show network

Look to see that the clocking is from the E1 line.

The clock source comes from the E1:

mgw01#sh network-clocks

  Network Clock Configuration

  ---------------------------

Priority      Clock Source    Clock State     Clock Type

     1          E1 0/0/0        GOOD            E1

     2          E1 0/2/0        GOOD            E1

    10          Backplane       GOOD            PLL

  Current Primary Clock Source

  ---------------------------

Priority      Clock Source    Clock State     Clock Type

     1          E1 0/0/0        GOOD            E1

Hi,

Can you look at these commands alter and apply to your
gateways

!
mgcp fax t.38 inhibit
no ccm-manager fax protocol
mgcp modem passthrough voip mode nse
mgcp modem passthrough voip codec g711ulaw
!
!
!if you have more than 1 IP interface
!then bind 1 to the MGCP, using
!your interface number
!
mgcp bind control source-interface FastEthernet0
mgcp bind media source-interface FastEthernet0
!

Also check on the gateways in CUCM that
you have FAX RELAY unchecked

Hi

I have all those commands applied on both gateways (2951 and vg224) and I've also checked on CUCM web page that, on both gateways:

- modem passthrough: enable

- t.38 fax relay: disable

- cisco fax relay: disable

now i've resetted the VG just to be sure that I have some configuration lock...

but it's still not working

btw thanks a lot 4 your help...

Hi,

Looking at this link

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/vvf_c/cisco_ios_fax_services_over_ip_application_guide/pt.html#wp1088980

SUMMARY STEPS

1. mgcp package-capability rtp-package

2. mgcp modem passthrough voip mode nse

3. mgcp modem passthrough voip codec {g711ulaw | g711alaw}

4. mgcp modem passthrough voip redundancy [sample-duration [10 | 20]] [maximum-sessions sessions]

5. mgcp timer nse-response t38 time

6. mgcp fax t.38 inhibit

7. exit

8. show running-config

9. show mgcp

no way.. I did exactly the same setup without the

mgcp-timer nse-responde t38 time

mgcp modem passthrough voip redundancy

[

sample-duration

[

10

|

20

]] [

maximum-sessions sessions

]

now i've added these two lines but the situation is the same as usual.. if i add the voip redundancy on the vg224 the quality of the answer tone seems very poor and choppy...
