VIC Card in 2811

Hi,

How do I tell if my router is recognizing the VIC-2FXO-M1 card I put in it? I want to confirm the card is working, but I don't know how to tell if it is working or recognized since I purchased it used.

Thanks,

Mitch

The command "sh inventory" should be the first step.

Hi Mitchell,

In addition to what Mr Leo has said, u can also try show diag and also need to have Voice image .You should get the output something like Unknown Port Adaptor.

But ,I doubt the card is supported on 2800 series.

Please check the links

Aman seems to be right, this module is not supported on 28XX series

I get this when I run 'sh inventory'

PID: CISCO2811         , VID: V03 , SN: FTX2341A07T

Well that sucks if it doesn't support it. I was told it would because originally it had a T1 card in it and it has 4 WVIC slots 0-3.

I also have a 2821, but it doesn't have an IOS on it yet, waiting for the memory and CF card to arrive to update it.

I also ran 'sh diag' and I got this result:

WIC Slot 0:

        Unknown WAN daughter card

WIC module not supported/disabled in this slot

Hardware revision 1.0           Board revision F0

Serial number     30276198      Part number    800-05298-01

        FRU Part Number     VIC-2FXO-M1=

Test history      0x0           RMA number     00-00-00

        Connector type    Wan Module

        EEPROM format version 1

        EEPROM contents (hex):

          0x20: 01 2B 01 00 01 CD FA 66 50 14 B2 01 00 00 00 00

          0x30: 78 00 00 00 03 03 28 01 FF FF FF FF FF FF FF FF

Well, is there any VOIP card that will work in the 2800 (2811 or 2821) routers?

Thanks!

Does anyone have a suggestion for a VOIP device that is compatable with this card I can get on Ebay for relatively cheap? I see the list from this page, but it looks like some of the models need a special memory module to get as well:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps274/products_tech_note09186a00800b53c7.shtml

Thanks all. I'd rather get the best item I can from the compatability list for the card, since it looks like most of them are relatively cheap, barring they don't require the additional memory DSP module.

Hi Mitchell,

you can check your requirement from the above mentioned links.
