Voice translation on ISDN line

Guys,

I look after a CM in a different country & they get lots of overseas calls, but when they get a missed call it comes up with say 944173339xxx, but they can't dial that number back. I have some config in the router to add 90044 to 44, but this doen't hit the phones with the 00 in the number

The international call are coming in over an ISDN 30, so I feel there is no point in adding it to a dial-peer as these are pots.

I have the following config on the router:

voice translation-rule 2

rule 1 /44/ /90044/

rule 2 // /9/

!

!

voice translation-profile Prefix_calling/called_numbers

translate calling 2

translate called 1

I have tried to add the translation profile to the se0/0/0:15, but that is not valid.

Any help would be appreciated.

Angus

Re: Voice translation on ISDN line

Hi Angus,

I think you can achieve by using "Significant digits" & "Prefix DN" features under Digital PRI port on MGCP Gateway configuration in Cisco Callmanager.

Pls find the following link which may help...

Re: Voice translation on ISDN line

I think I may haver fixed it by adding:

voice-port 0/0/0:15

translation-profile incoming Prefix_calling/called_numbers <<< this

cptone IE

I won't be able to tell until the customer get in tomorrow.

Re: Voice translation on ISDN line

Yes Angus.

You need to add to Voice port.

The correct translation rule would be...

voice translation-rule 2

rule 1 /^44\(.*\)/ /90044\1/

That's it. Please try this & let me know if it helps...

Re: Voice translation on ISDN line

Hi, actually the above rule is not optimal, because it works only for calls received from UK only and not for all the others.

So the correct rule is:

rule 1 // /900/ type international international

rule 2 // /9/ type national national

Remember this works only when you're using H.323 and not MGCP.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Re: Voice translation on ISDN line

Would it not be valid to put it under the peer?

dial-peer voice 1000 pots

incoming called-number .

direct-inward-dial

port 0/0/0:15

translation-profile incoming xxx

?

Re: Voice translation on ISDN line

Yes. However it's easier logic to put translation-profile under voice ports whenever possible.

Beside, incoming pots DP don't need "port". In fact, port command is ininfluent for incoming pots DP.

Re: Voice translation on ISDN line

we are using mgcp and still have the same issue.

So the config I currently have is:

voice translation-rule 1

rule 1 /9100/ /69149/

rule 2 /9200/ /69219/

rule 3 // /6/

!

voice translation-rule 2

rule 1 /^44\(.*\)/ /90044\1/

rule 2 // /9/

!

!

voice translation-profile Prefix_calling/called_numbers

translate calling 2

translate called 1

!

voice-port 0/0/0:15

translation-profile incoming Prefix_calling/called_numbers

cptone IE

!

!

dial-peer voice 1 pots

translation-profile incoming Prefix_calling/called_numbers

preference 1

incoming called-number .

direct-inward-dial

port 0/0/0:15

!

When I put the number through the test it looks fine:

DUB-PTER1-3825-01#test voice translation-rule 2 441733393430

Matched with rule 1

Original number: 441733393430 Translated number: 900441733393430

Original number type: none Translated number type: none

Original number plan: none Translated number plan: none

Re: Voice translation on ISDN line

Hi,

If you use MGCP, DP's and translation rules are not applicable. Any configuration must be done on the CM.

Unfortunately I cannot tell you how to configure CM with MGCP because I don't know that myself.
