web inbox has endless spinner

cisco unity connection 8.5(1)ES16

attempting to log into web inbox to play voicemail results in endless spinner.

client: mac 10.6.8

browser: firefox 10

java: 1.6.0_29

webconsole defines the failure:

[17:27:59.737] window is undefined @ msg-gadget.js:213

however...

using an older browser(firefox 3.6.19) on the same client will work.

any clue as to what exactly is causing the new browser to fail?

please advise, and suggestions are welcome.

I ran into a similar issue after upgrading a customer from 7.1(3) to 8.5(1)SU2.  Basically, when trying to login from various browsers the web page would just hang in the loading phase after authenticating.  There are actually a couple of bugs for Web Inbox that, on the surface, either should have been resolved or just didn't seem to apply based on the details.  However, I opened a TAC case and was offered either a special ES release (only available from TAC) or the option to upgrade to SU3.  Of the two, I opted to just move to SU3 and the issue was resolved.  Unfortunately, I pressed for confirmation of a bug ID but was told that, in my case, there was no "formal" bug but the engineer had seen similar cases that were resolved in the same manner.
