9.2.4 can't connect to Unity Connection (VMREST) & contact pics problem

I have been using Jabber 9.1.0 and all was working okay. Finally got around to trying out 9.2.4 but after the upgrade, the voicemail integration no longer seems to work. When looking at the connection info, I can see that it now seems to be using VMREST (HTTPS) instead of IMAP. Is there any way I can tell Jabber which protocol to use?

I'm also using jabber-config.xml to do the token substition for contact pics. Again, with 9.1.0, this works, but with 9.2.4, it seems to work no longer. Config hasn't changed any. Any ideas?

<PhotoUriSubstitutionEnabled>true</PhotoUriSubstitutionEnabled><PhotoUriSubstitutionToken>sAMAccountName</PhotoUriSubstitutionToken>

Thanks

Sean

You can't choose; Jabber is moving to protocols that can all be tunneled over SIP or HTTP so no more IMAP. Double-check the setup guide to ensure your config matches all the steps for REST-based connectivity:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/jabber/Windows/9_2/JABW_BK_J6915A59_00_jabber-windows-server-setup_chapter_01.html#JABW_TK_S41DA666_00

As for the URI substitution, try a .jpg file type. I can't find mention of .png within the doc. Also, the client must be in EDI or UDS mode for this to work. If you're using the old BDI integration you have to get this as a binary object from LDAP.

Great Jonathan, thank you. I didn't realise the protocols had changed with 9.2 so hadn't configured the Unity server correctly. I've also changed the pictures to .jpg and this has fixed the issue - just a little strange as png seemed to work with 9.1.0. Thanks for your help!

9.2.4 can't connect to Unity Connection (VMREST) & contact pics

Hi Jonathan,

I've read the guide for server setup of Cisco Jabber 9.2.x over and over. I'm sure i've done every step in that guide.

But  my Jabber is still cannot connect to voicemail. I've turn off my  windows firewall and make sure that there is no device that restrict  communication between Jabber and Unity Connection.

Is there anything else that should be checked? Thanks.

Hello, Jonathan, I hope you

Hello, Jonathan, I hope you are well.

Do you know if the scaling for VMREST is the same as for IMAP clients?

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/connection/9x/supported_platforms/9xcucspl.html#pgfId-703559

Both the 9.x and 10.x documents do not clarify this and I'm curious if you've researched the answer.

Thanks,

Stephanie
