Cisco Jabber ID - CUCM LDAP Integrated

If CUCM is LDAP integrated, the user ID will be the sAMAccountName.  So, by default, the JID would be "sAMAccountName@JID domain". Is there an option to have the JID be "lastname.firstname@JID domain"?

No, you can only choose from what is under the userID field in CUCM, depending on your IM&P version, you can also change it to DirectoryURI, but then you would need to format whatever field you're syncing for that value to that format

IM Address Scheme

Choose the global IM address scheme.

Note

You must set the same IM address scheme in every cluster.

Default Value: UserID@[Default Domain]

Available Options

  • UserID@[Default Domain]—each user's IM address matches the format UserID@Default_Domain
  • Directory URI—each user's IM address matches their Cisco Unified Communications Manager Directory URI setting

If you change the IM address scheme to UserID@Default_Domain, a popup window is displayed after you click Save. The popup window warns that the change may take some time to complete. You can continue with the IM address scheme change or cancel the operation.

If you change the IM address scheme to Directory URI, the following popup windows are displayed after you click Save:
  • The first popup informs you that all clients must support directory URI as the IM address scheme. You can continue with the change or cancel.
  • The second popup reports the results of three checks that are performed on the current Cisco Unified Communications Manager directory URI settings:
    • the number of users that have no directory URI value
    • the number of users that have an invalid directory URI value
    • the number of users that have duplicate directory URI values
You can continue with the IM address scheme change or cancel the operation and fix the user settings before you attempt the operation again.
    Note

This second popup will not be displayed if there are no errors with the user settings.

  • The third popup warns that the change may take some time to complete. You can continue with the IM address scheme change or cancel the operation.

Jamie,

If I choose the Directory URI field for the jabber id, users would log in to Jabber as "Directory URI@JabberDomain. With this configuration, would LDAP authentication still function for the user?

I.E.

AD Account:

   User: jalber

   Password: Cisc0123

Directory URI: joe.alber@test.com

Jabber login:

     Username: joe.alber@test.com

Password: Cisc0123 (AD password - authentication)
