The format of the username is different from for example Personal Communicator. Check that you're entering not just the usual username but with the domain name on the end too, ie email@example.com rather than just username.
Username without the domain works fine also. We had the same issue with login. A server restart solved the problem. I didn't take the time to find out which service has to be restarted. I don't say this is the solution to all login issues, but in this case it helped us.
