Jabber not connecting over VPN

We have a remote user who is trying to connect to Jabber using a Windows 8 laptop and the Cisco AnyConnect client. We can ping the server and everything else over VPN works but the client will just say it cannot connect to the server after a brief delay in trying.

Is there anything special that needs to be done in order to get this working? I would have thought this would be something very simple and common.

Jabber not connecting over VPN

Can you attach the Jabber problem report  (HELP>REPORT PROBLEM).   Also, when the user is on the domain, is your name of your CUPS server resolved, and also, is the user able to login when NOT using the VPN client , i.e. as a "normal" LAN user?
