Jabber outside the Corportate Network without Expressway

All,

looking for a solution to give Jabber users connectivity when outside the corporate walls if Expressway is not an option.  The only thing I can come up with is either a VPN or have jabber point to a public IP address with some holes in the firewall to allow Jabber communication but I would prefer to stay way from punching more holes in my firewall.

MRA is the way to go, or VPN, otherwise, you'd be better off looking at a cloud solution and not an on-prem solution.
