Jabber Softphone vs Deskphone

Running IM&P  9.1.1.41900-1  ON PREM with Jabber for Windows 9.6.0.  Why is it if the user sets their phone to Desktop Control (7942) the Jabber Client still rings.     Even if I reverse that and say to use softphone the desk phone still rings.    Why are both phones still ringing?  What's the purpose of phone control if all phones still work the same?   The end users don't want their computer ringing while they are at their desk.  Is there a way to prevent this?

The Deskphone control feature on Cisco Jabber client is to control the Deskphone, so if you get a call on your deskphone you have the ability to answer the call on your Jabber client but the RTP stream would be from your deskphone. You can also dial in numbers from the windows and take the call in the deskphone

And the other reason why they both are ringing is because they share the same DN

Thanks for your reply. That makes sense but how do we prevent the jabber CSF from ringing and only ring the desk. I know do not disturb doesn't block incoming calls. Seems like deleting the CSF in ccm is the only option

Then the only option is to change the DN for the Softphone, so that both doesn't ring at the same time no matter where the call comes

Interesting request though :)

Hello!

Never tried such thing, but it may be  useful and interesting: try to delete CSF device, configured for user, from CUCM. You should still have possibility to call in 'Deskphone Mode', but not in 'Softphone Mode'.

So, all calls will go through a physical phone, and "PC will not ring". User will still be able to use IM and video calls, but will not to use desktop sharing.

But it is just an assumption. :)

Kirill
