Multi party video using Jabber

Hello All

I have a customer who would like the following requirements from his voice / collaboration system:

The system must provide the following:

  • A VoIP system that allows video conferencing and phone conferencing
  • A mobile phone system that will minimise the costs with regard to the way that VERIPOS employees use their phones, both locally and roaming

Can Jabber provide this?

If not what part of the Cisco portfolio can provide this?

Thanks

Feisal

For ad-hoc video conferencing you would need an MCU, TelePresence Server, or PVDM3 modules configured for video (least recommended option) registered to CUCM.

The Jabber iOS/Android clients support VoIP but not video yet. Also, they presently require a VPN connection such as AnyConnect to work outside the firewall. QoS is also a major consideration for the mobile clients; most of the call path is best effort and call quality cannot be guaranteed.
