Am running Jabber Video (v4.4 14479) on a Macbook Pro (5,3 : Mid-2009) with OSX 10.7.3. It installs fine but cannot find my iSight cameras or a Precision HD when connected. Jabber reports 'Make sure a camera is properly connected to your computer'. Nothing else seems to be using the camera ...
Of course, as soon as I post the question, I find the solution. A utility called iGlasses that allows you to modify iSight's saturation and brightness wasn't playing nice. Remove iGlasses and Jabber finds my iSight.
