is MOVI the same as Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence?

Hello, I already have a MOVI account and the client is installed on my Lenovo PC. I am currently using a Microsoft HD camera , waiting on my MOVI camera to be delivered any time soon. MOVI has been working with this camera so far though.
I tried to install Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence; when I launch it, it tells me that I don’t have the correct drivers.

So I’m wondering:

  1. is MOVI the same thing as Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence?
  2. If so, do I need to uninstall Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence?
  3. If not, what is the difference, and why is it telling me I don’t have the graphic drivers?
  4. Can I call a TP with the MOVI client I have already working on my PC?
  5. I don’t seem to be able to call a Jabber account from my current MOVI, why?

Thanks so much in advance for your help

Hi Natalie,

1. is MOVI the same thing as Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence? It had the same look/feel but uses a specific client and registered to 2. the cloud.
If so, do I need to uninstall Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence? Yes.  Uninstalling will remove the your favorite/history.

3. If not, what is the difference, and why is it telling me I don’t have the graphic drivers?  It might be looking for
the manufacture's OPENGL driver.

Go directly to ati/nvidia to download your driver.

ww.ati.com

www.nvidia.com

4. Can I call a TP with the MOVI client I have already working on my PC?  You can't call directly due to call routing limitation. You will need to meet on a bridge.

5. I don’t seem to be able to call a Jabber account from my current MOVI, why?  You can't call directly. You will need to meet on a bridge.

Hi Andrew,

yes, I'm thinking of uninstalling "Jabber Video for Telepresenc" to keep my on-premise 4.2 MOVI version (and call TPs from it); but it seems from what i'm reading that the 4.3 or 4.4 verions which are free are better; I cannot seem to call with my 4.2 a 4.3 or 4.4 account; what shall I do? Keep the on-premise version, or go for the Cloud one?

thanks

Hi Everyone...I have Cisco

Hi Everyone...

I have Cisco Jabber Video for Telepresence deployed in the network.I have TMS, VCSc and VCSE as well..

Right now Jabber Video is working fine on internal network. but not registering from outside.

If i connect VPN from outside then Jabber video gets Registered. But without VPN its not registering..

Have anyone deployed it and tell me what configuration do i need to make it work from outside and without VPN...

Thanks...

is MOVI the same thing as Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence?

Our Movi client was rebranded to Jabber Video for Telepresence with the 4.3 release.  The web service which was released shortly after Jabber Video 4.3 goes by the same name, Cisco Jabber Video for Telepresence.

If so, do I need to uninstall Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence?

If you have on-prem Jabber Video (previously Movi) that registers to a VCS you don't need a ciscojabbervideo.com account.  You can't and wouldn't need to have both installed simultaneously.

If not, what is the difference, and why is it telling me I don’t have the graphic drivers?

ciscojabbervideo.com is currently on hte 4.4 release.  On prem is currently 4.3.  So there may be some differences.

Can I call a TP with the MOVI client I have already working on my PC?

Yes should work.  Are you talking about your on prem Movi 4.2 calling CTS?  It should really be able to call anything.

I don’t seem to be able to call a Jabber account from my current MOVI, why?

I just did a test from my ciscojabbervideo.com account to a colleague using Jabber Video 4.3 registered internally at Cisco and it worked.

Re: is MOVI the same as Cisco Jabber Video for TelePresence?

Hi Andrew,

None of our users, including myself, have been able to get the free version, 4.4 to work with the "not free version" 4.2 and 4.3.

The call connects but we're getting no media except for a bit of one-way audio, and that is not all the time either.

None of us have both clients installed on the same PC.

Calls from one 4.4 to another 4.4 works fine, so does 4.3 to 4.3/4.2 etc to/from external as well as internal.

Edit: It is supposed to work with h.323 endpoints as well according to a reply in this thread:

https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2137281?tstart=0

Edit: Just tried from home with 4.3 on my Macbook and free 4.4 on Dell laptop; 4.3 registered to my

VCS-E, call connects,

audio and video received on 4.4 from 4.3

Pretty shocking quality, but that'll be partly caused by the network I'm on at home, I'll take it to work tomorrow and try on Gb.

No audio nor video received on 4.3 from 4.4

cheers jens

Done some more testing this morning at work on Gb.

4.4 connects fine to any of our end-points using SIP, no problems with media either end.

4.4 connect fine to 4.3, however, initially no media either end, and here is where it gets even stranger:

started presentation on 4.4; both presentation and camera displayed fine on 4.3 - still no media from 4.3 on 4.4.

Brought the Codian 4520 into the mix and both 4.3 and 4.4 connects fine, media works fine with both.

I notice 4.4 is sent to proxy.global.jabber.com which comes back as a 199 address:
