10GE Etherchannel between Twinax and SFP+

All,

What are the recommendations of Cisco regarding an Etherchannel between one Twinax 10GE interface and one 10GE SFP+ SR interface ? One uplink switch is very close and can be reached via Twinax, the other one not.

Is it possible to configure ? The Nexus specifications mention a link latency difference between the two types (0.25 µsec for copper, versus 0.1 µsec for fiber), so it doesn't seem to be a good idea to put them in an Etherchannel (although etherchannel load balancing is not packet based)

Hello Gert,

a difference of 150 nsec should be affordable even at 10 GE speed.

frames are not fragmented on member links so this difference shouldn't stress the devices with the need to buffer fragments for reassembly.

Hope to help

Giuseppe
