Hello,
I have 6 x 3750 switch split into 2 stacks ( A & B). This is for our VMware hosts and SANs and it works well. We have now run out of space and I have been given 2 x ws-3750G-12s-s chassis switches to add, 1 to each stack. So I have a few question on added these to the stacks, here is a diag to help:
Thanks

#1 yes (they are compatible)
#2 no, but stacks need to run same StackWise version - easiest to guarantee when all running same IOS version
#3 yes
#4 no (as long a connectivity is maintained between existing switches)
#5 no for existing switches, switch be added to stack should be connected with power off
PS:
BTW, the 12S model supports SDM templates unique to it, so insure it's running one of the "normal" SDM templates before adding to stack.

What do I make of your posted information?
I assume the -12S has a newer IOS since the stack version is newer. It also appears to be running the the default "special" -12S SDM template.
The former might or might not be a problem, but to be safe, best to install the same IOS version on all stack members. (55SE9 is very solid.)
The latter is a problem but should be fixable by changing the SDM template on the -12S (done using the SDM prefer command in config mode - do before trying to add to stack).
