2 Lan and routing

Hi guys,

I would like interconnect 2 lan. One with 172.17.86.X submask 255.255.0.0 and another with 192.168.1.X submask 255.255.255.0

So i must have a router. I found RV180. It has an wan port, but could i set it in lan port ?

Doest it a good choice or there's a better way than this rv180 ? (only router ?)

Thanks for help !

2 Lan and routing

Hi,

Thanks for this, but that's not what i mean.

I would like to config my lan 1 on wan port, and lan 2 to another port from switch.

If you want, i don't want to use rv180 as wan router but as lan router only.

My problem is : I would like few PCs on le lan1 can print (on lan printer) on the lan2, and if i don't mistake, i must use router to do this. 2 lan are currently physically separe

So rv180 can be helpful for my problem or a better solution to do this ?

Thanks a lot

Re: 2 Lan and routing

It's depending on what kind of switches you use. If you a switch to supports VLANs you need to configure the port that is attached to the RV180 as a trunk port. On the RV180 you use only one physical interface with multiple sub interfaces (page 36) to allow interVLAN communication.
