2621 XM DHCP on one interface only?

Hi,

I am trying to configure DHCP on the E0/1 interface of my router. Is there any way to do this and limit it to only the network connected to that interface?

We have set up our router so that e0/1 connects to a test network, seperate from our main network. Instead of setting up a DHCP server for that test network, I'd like to just have the router supply the addresses.

Is this possible or can I only set DHCP globally on the router?

Thanks,

John

You will need an interface that is in the same subnet as the DHCP scope. The DHCP server should only hand out IP's on that particular interface.

HTH and please rate.

Re: 2621 XM DHCP on one interface only?

So to clarify:

These are my two ethernet interfaces:

interface FastEthernet0/0

ip address 199.222.135.1 255.255.255.128

full-duplex

speed 100

!

interface FastEthernet0/1

ip address 199.222.135.161 255.255.255.224

speed 100

full-duplex

So if I set up a DHCP range of 199.222.135.175 - 190 with a subnet of 255.255.255.224, the addresses will only get handed to e0/1 and not e0/0?

Do I have that right?

Re: 2621 XM DHCP on one interface only?

Thanks Guys,

It's working great. I'm getting the correct addresses on the test network and our regular network is still pulling from our production DHCP server.

Excellent help.

I'll try and fiure out how to rate the response ;-)

John
