2801 connected directly to ASA5510 constant link up messages?

I have a 2801 running the very latest 12.4(22)T (can't remember what feature set) that is connected directly on a 10/100 Ethernet interface to an ASA5510 (running 7.2(4) - its actually FastEthernet0/0 connected to Ethernet0/2. They are currently configured for auto-speed & duplex and show they have negotiated 100/Full at both ends(I have tried hard-coding 100/Full at both ends and the behaviour is exactly the same).

On the 2801 every 30-seconds there is a message logged that says the FastEthernet0/0 interface changed state to up:

003868: Nov 25 23:26:07.929 GMT: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/0, changed state to up

003869: Nov 25 23:26:37.926 GMT: %LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet0/0, changed state to up

There appear to be no errors on the interface and it seems to be operating OK, however this message is a slightly worrying. The ASA is not reporting any equivalent errors.

Does anyone know why this is and how to resolve it? The 2801 when connected to a Catalyst 3560 using the same interface didn't generate the messages.

I thought with the 30-second interval it might be a CDP issue, however I have disabled CDP on the 2801 and the behaviour remains the same.

Anyone any ideas what this could be? Previously the 2801 was connected to the ASA via a Catalyst 3560 and there were no errors logged. Unfortunately due to the security requirements the 2801 must be connected directly to the ASA.

Andy

hey andrew, have you ever resolved this issue?

I am having a very similar issue, if not the same.

Have router directly connected to ASA and i get these in my router logs, but no errors on ASA, we are having Internet cconnectivity issues though and the costumer seems to resolve them by rebooting the ASA....?
