We have a 48port 2950, with a gigabit copper ethernet module.
I've got that gigabit port setup as a span port (monitor session) so that it can view the traffic from the other 48 ports. It connects to a network sniffer. Our total traffic that it monitors doesn't exceed 1Gb/s.
I've now got another application that needs to see the same traffic (a passive IDS device).
But the 2950s limit the number of monitor sessions. So I can't setup another span port to view the same traffic.
Back in the 100MB days, I could take the the monitor port and send it to a 100MB hub.
But I'm not sure if gigabit hubs exist.
Any other way to get two devices to see this gigabit traffic?
