2950 to a NM-esw-16

I currnetly have a network on a 24 port 2950. I need to test some Cisco handsets (PoE). I have a router with a NM-ESW-16 and thought I could wipe the router config and use it as a dumb PoE switch.

Using a cross over between the two devices I connected the 2950 to int 0 on the NM-ESW. However I cannot get a link.

Do you see the interface come up/up? Are you trying to negotiate trunking?

Ports are up down.

Tried the ports in access mode and trunk still no luck.

Have you looked at layer 1? Is the cable good? Those 2 devices don't support Auto MDI/MDI-X so you'll need a crossover. I've been bitten more than once by a bad/incorrect cable :-)

Yeah tested the cross over works with other kit. may try a different one tommorow
