It is not the default behaviour. The documentation states we should be able to connect to the stack through any of the member console ports.

You cannot manage stack members on an individual switch basis. You can connect to the stack master through the console port of one or more stack members
Also for troubleshooting purposes (show and debug) it is possible to access to member through the session stack-member-number command.
All console activity regardless of media (RJ45 or USB) is directed to the master regardless of the member the console port is connected to.

Do you mean when connecting to the master switch you do have the prompt - But when connecting with the same console session on another switch member you do not have the console prompt ?
