Hi,

How can I make2960S stack numbering unchanged after power-on?

I apply stack-master highest priority (14)

After power-up sometimes Master Switch number becomes #2 or #3 or #4

sw#sh switch detail
Switch/Stack Mac Address : c025.5ccf.7c00
                                           H/W   Current
Switch#  Role   Mac Address     Priority Version  State
----------------------------------------------------------
*1       Master c025.5ccf.7c00     14     1       Ready
 2       Member 64e9.5055.da80     1      1       Ready
 3       Member 64e9.5055.ca80     1      1       Ready
 4       Member 64e9.5082.5180     1      1       Ready

         Stack Port Status             Neighbors
Switch#  Port 1     Port 2           Port 1   Port 2
--------------------------------------------------------
  1        Ok         Ok                4        2
  2        Ok         Ok                1        3
  3        Ok         Ok                2        4
  4        Ok         Ok                3        1

THANKS

You mean after a power-up, Master Switch does not have a "*" and the "*"* goes to either #2 or #3 or #4?

When I first power sw#1 first than , others conseguently, no problem

But  after a power problem, I dont konow which sw becomes first, I cannot reac the stack by telnet

This site is remote, I cannot telnet the sw,

Backbone connection is by sw#1 s fiber port

I want stack numbering does not change according to power-up sequence

Also port numbering mus not change

Always upper switch ports must remain same such:    #gig 1/0/.

Thanks a lot

Ok.  The behaviour is normal.  Unless the entire stack powered up simultaneously or the master was powered up first, the switch master can be the first unit to be powered up (even though switch priority is configured).

The only way out is to reboot the entire stack or the three switches.
