I am setting up a several vlans for my client and I have to implement a layer 3 switch. The client has a dell shop and is thinking about placing a powerconnect 6247 layer 3 switches. I have not worked with these switches before and want to implement a 3700 layer 3 switch. Can anyone tell me the pros and cons for going with the catalyst 3700?

by the way the user does not have voip phones but voice traffic is routed.

They are very comparable products based on their technical description.

Cisco 3750-E

The 3750-E has a slightly faster backplane and supports Cisco proprietary protocols such as HSRP and EIGRP.

The decision will always come down to price and what the customer is used to using.
