3750 POE Question

Hello All,

This is my first post.

I would like to know if I can do the following.... Instead of having 8 different DHCP servers, I want to have one single DHCP server in my building (8 Floors)running a superscope for all different subnets. Using 3750's POE is this possible ? I would also like to desiginate from that superscope a particular subnet to each floor.

i.e. Floor 1 192.168.1.0

Floor 2 192.168.2.0

etc

etc

Is this possible ?

Thanks

Colin

Re: 3750 POE Question

colin,

Even though the 3750 switches support the DHCP features, i would suggest you use a windows server for the same

Re: 3750 POE Question

Hi Colin,

in Cisco IOS DHCP server config looks like this.

service dhcp

ip dhcp excluded-address 10.18.23.220 10.18.423.254

ip dhcp pool vlan46

network 10.18.23.0 255.255.255.0

default-router 10.18.23.1

dns-server 10.3.3.11 10.3.3.12

domain-name cisco.com

netbios-name-server 10.3.3.11 10.3.3.12

netbios-node-type h-node

lease 7

If you use a PC with windows or linux as a dhcp server, you have to make shure that the DHCP Request from the client reaches the DHCP Server. TO do this in the VLAN of the ClIENT you have to configure a helper address pointing to the dhcp server.

!

interface Vlan55

ip address 10.18.55.2 255.255.255.0

ip helper-address 10.101.50.63

ip helper-address 10.101.50.26

standby 55 ip 10.18.55.1

standby 55 priority 110

standby 55 preempt

Bye

Jo
