3750 - Switch removal - port down

Hi all.

Today i decomissioned a switch from my 3750 stack. Upon recabling my stack i have lost a member from the pool. The switch is operational and performing as normal but is missing from the stack. Upon closer inspection it appears a port is down. The same cable's are being used before the switch removal and the ports were working fine prior to this also.

Switch 4 was removed from the stack.

Switch 3 is showing as 'Provisioned' but is up, running and cabled correctly.

It appears there are some ports down but i have checked all the cabling which appears to be correct.

The switch that was removed ( Switch 4 ) was at the bottom of the stack in terms of cabling when it was removed. Switch 3 is now at the bottom of the stack and appears to be missing?

Hi Jamie,

Can you provide details on how the stackwise cables are ordered. Using the layout of the second table from 'sh switch detail' .

Hi Seb.

The order of the switches are as follows:

switch 1-5

switch 1-2

switch 1-1

switch 1-3

switch 1-4

Switch 1-4 was removed and the cabling amended so the new layout looks like this:

switch 1-5

switch 1-2

switch 1-1

switch 1-3

Currently Switch 1-3 is 'missing' but still operational. Same cables that were being used and were working fine.

Did you remove switch 4 when the stack was up and running? If all your connections are correct, then try to reload the stack i expect the issue will be cleared after that

Switch 4 was powered off... Cabling removed, and re-cabled to the new layout shown above.

'Reload Stack'... Would this be rebooting the stack? Unfortunately this is a 'live' environment. Is there a way to resolve this without rebooting the Switch Stack?

Can you console onto switch3 and check the logs? Is there anything related to stack ports?

What is the output of 'sh switch detail' ?

I haven't got console access to switch3 right now but here is the output of 'sh switch detail'

Try to remove 3 from the stack, and also remove 4 from your config

I shall remove the config for switch4 but currently switch3 is a production switch and serving traffic. If i remove it from the stack will this not stop the switch from functioning? Also, i want switch3 to be in 'play' not removed from the stack.
