3750x stack behavior

I installed a new 3750x stack today, 3 members. I found that one of the stack cables is too short, so I just plugged two of the 3 in and fired them up. I expected them to form a single stack, but ended up with a stack of 2 and 1. Is this expected behavior? It's pretty much what what it would look like with a failed cable... And no, I just powered them on and left for the day...didn't have an day time to console in.

If the stack cables and ports were functioning correctly, a daisy chain should form a ("half duplex") single stack.

Hello, were the stacking cables fully in properly? what is the output of "show switch stack-ports" and "show switch stack-ring speed"

Bilal, After about 3 months of operation no problems whatsoever. I'm thinking the problem was related to having a half duplex stack with out of the box switches.

It appears something went wrong in the stack creation...I reloaded the stack with two members and when they came back they had joined the previously left out switch. I'm going to keep an eye on these guys to make sure I don't have a faulty cable or port before they go into production....

Thanks,

I would also recommend getting the top and bottom switches connected, both for redundancy and performance.  If the standard cable is too short, you can order a longer cable.

No question about it. Longer data and power stack cables show up tomorrow. I just wanted to get to building, it's the first step in a major overhaul and I've been waiting months for parts and approvals :)
