3825 - %TCP-2-INVALIDTCPENCAPS: Invalid TCB encaps pointer

Hi all,

Two days ago I found the next error in my Cisco 3825:

000026: Nov 18 08:44:56.722 MEXICO: %TCP-2-INVALIDTCPENCAPS: Invalid TCB encaps pointer: 0x63E6B278 -Process= "TCP Driver", ipl= 0, pid= 162 -Traceback= 0x60B43250 0x611594C4 0x6115A6C4 0x60C66290 0x60C66308 0x60C54A40 0x60C62ECC 0x61A66C34 0x60C64448 0x60C65968 0x6115B358 0x617D517C 0x617D5160

The version is:  c3825-entbasek9-mz.124-18b.bin

I looked up on Cisco documentation about what could be the issue, but there's little information regarding this error.

Do anyone know how can I fix this alert?

I attached the sh run and sh ver.

I thank you in advance for all your time and help.

Have a great day!!

Re: 3825 - %TCP-2-INVALIDTCPENCAPS: Invalid TCB encaps pointer

Hello Rvillavi,

this is a software error triggered by the fact that IOS is trying to use a data structure that has been already purged/removed

error message decoder provides the following feedback:

1. %TCP-2-INVALIDTCPENCAPS: Invalid TCB encaps pointer: [hex] This message occurs when the TCP driver code accesses the TCP encap structure, which  is already freed elsewhere in the code.

Recommended Action: If this message recurs, copy the error message exactly as it appears on the  console or in the system log, contact your Cisco technical support representative, and provide the  representative with the gathered information.

Related documents- No specific documents apply to this error message.

Hope to help

Yes, you need to open a case with TAC.
