4006 Sup II - CatOS - %CDP-3-SENDFAIL:

Hi,

I have a 4006 with a Sup II and I keep getting syslog msg like this one:

%CDP-3-SENDFAIL:Transmit failure on port 6/42

I get this message on different ports and on different hours.

CPU usage is at 65% so I don't think is a CPU problem.

The only information I have found is on this page:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst5000/catos/4.5/system/messages/emsg.html

But I don't know what else to do because the document say:

Recommended Action Contact your technical support representative.

I would like to know if someone knows what could be hapenning before I open a case on the TAC.

Thanks!

Renzo Olcese

"In most cases, this error message is purely cosmetic, and it does not affect performance. The message disappears after reload. If the error message again persist upgrade the CatOS version software to the latest.

In rare cases, the switch port may be misconfigured. For the ports listed in the error message, hard code the speed and duplex for the switch port and PCs.

This issue is documented in Cisco bug ID CSCeg13750."

Hello Renzo,

In other platforms this could indicate an issue where packets are reaching the SUP inband interface but are not being transmitted.

Unfortunately, the only solution Ive seen was rebooting the SW.

Not sure if this will apply to your case though.

Anyway let us know how that goes.

Regards,

Vlad
