4500 trunking issue

David Niemann

Seeing a strange issue on some cat4500s. Trunking to other switches using the GBIC on the supervisor works fine, but trunking on any copper ports has issues and frequently does not work.

Attached sh tech, sh mod and port configuration. The switch that I am trying to connect to trunk has an identical configuration. I do have a few copper ports that are trunking just fine.

This is the error I get in the logs on the 4500.

Can you post output of "sh interface trunk" from the 2 ends of the trunk that are giving errors.

Jon

The 3560 is currently not connected as I have a workaround in place. If I take the same 3560 that would not trunk on the copper port on the 4500 and connect it to a downstream switch that is trunked off of the GBIC on the supervisor module the 3560 trunks just fine, which shows me there is nothing wrong with the 3560.
