I have a 4506 (IOS cat4500-IPBASEK9-M, Version 12.2(25)SG2), Supervisor II+ and 04x 48 port 10/100 with PoE modules, that is at one of ours distribution wiring closets. The CPU utilization average is 43% measured on last 3 months. How we are startin the pilot and preparing for soon installing IP Telephony solutions (4000 Ip stations), I would like to check if this is normal, because today at this switch there is no active PoE device and my concern is about the moment we start activating them. Somebody could hel me please?
At ou diagram we have OSPF only at two 6506 core switches where Vlan are been routed. At distribution switches like this one there is no routing. I'm affraid of two things, excessive traffic load or some mistaken or missing spanning tree configuration that is causing that. I hope how VoIP traffic will be set to high priorization queue, this doesn's increase too much the CPU load.
