4507R rebooting continuously

4507R, Dual Sup V 10GE, IOS12.25.SG, rebooting continuously in ROMmon mode.

Not able to unset in ROMmon. Booted from TFTP, but unable to save config.

Re: 4507R rebooting continuously

Can you post some logs. Or anything you have captured?

Re: 4507R rebooting continuously

1. Check Config-register. It should be 0x2012.

2. Boot image from TFTP server, configure switch with IP address, and upgrade IOS to latest version (I believe most current version is 12.2(25)SGA1).

3. Make sure you have your system boot variable set to correct image name (I prefer to set it to "boot system flash bootflash:" without specifying a file name.)

Good luck,

Re: 4507R rebooting continuously

Thanks for all your efforts.

1. Please find LOG file (edited) attached. It contains the following sequence :

a. LOG of original problem using both SUPs.

b. LOG of booting from either one SUP.

c. Device, Memory, Image Version Details.

d. LOG of booting from TFTP.

2. HW details as observred from the LOGs :

a. WS-X4516-10GE; Part No. 73-10414-01

b. Serial No. JAE1015ZVQZ; HW 3.1

c. RomMON 12.2(31r)SG1

d. IOS Catalyst 4500 L3 Switch Software (cat4500-ENTSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.2(25)SG

e. Chassis. WS-C4507R

f. Hardware Revisions - Board: 4.11 CPLD Tie: 32 FPGA Pod: 14

3. Looks like the equipment falls within FN 62479. How to confirm if HW Revision is 3.1?

4. I think we did the configreg also. Should we upgrade RomMON? Or wait for DRAM replacement ? Or try TFTP boot again. Please advise ?

Re: 4507R rebooting continuously

You are running HW version 3.1. Check this:

(WS-X4516-10GE S/N: JAE1015ZJX5 Hw: 3.1)

Please upgrade the SDRAM first and then upgrade the rommon on the sup.
