Hey guys,
I am doing an small project, I have to connect 4 cisco switches SF 302-08 (1 GBIC each one) to a core switch SGE 2000 (4 GBICs). Because of cable length I have go connect all 5 switches with fiber. The fiber termination is multimode LC duplex. My confusion is on the mini GBICs. There is compatibilities issues i been reading. Any feedback will be really appreciate it.
From what i can understand:
SF 302-08 === SFP MGBSX1 will do the job
SGE 2000 === Not quite sure
Thank you in advance.
Regards,
Enrique

Hi,
Trans-receiver for entire small business series remains same. So, it would be MGBSX1 for SGE2000 As well.

Thank you Pawan,
Now, just curious, I am about to order the miniGBICs, I know we should keep on mind Cisco Only for compatibility, did you tried other miniGBICs brands?

Hi,
There are few chinese and taiwanes brand which are compampatible (Agilestar is one such product) with Cisco product, They do work fine but Cisco TAC would not support your product in case of product failure or so...
So, recommended is using Cisco trans-receivers only.
