Is it complusory to configure 6500 VSS using 10G link only ? Cant I use normal ethernet cables ( RJ 45 ) and use 8 of them to make etherchannel which would be used as VSL .
I have a set of 6500 VSS but as the supervisor has 10G ports but not the module I was thinking if there is an alternate . Else I will have to purchase
X2-10GB-SR .

All you have to do is to get the X2 optics for the ports on the sup (quantity of 2)

The VSL links have to be 10Gig links. So, you can use the 2 10Gig ports on the Sup, if you don't have the budget to purchase a line card.

I will be using 10G links from Sup . Sup comes with 2 10G ports but not modules . I need to purchase modules for that i.e. X2-10GB-SR
