6506 switch Sup Error

Hi All,

I have got a sup32 module in 6506-E chassis runing catos cat6000-sup32pfc3k9.8-7-2a.bin. Recently we reloaded the switch and the switch came up with the following error.

Supervisor module 5 encontered CRITICAL failure
Use 'show diagnostic result module 5' to see results of tests.
Failed Module Bringup Process
Use 'show test 5' to see results of tests.
Use 'reset 5' to reset the module.

And the switch gave the prompt as "Error-5-C6506E>".

Diagnosics result is as below:

Also observed that all the config loaded was lost.

So I tried rolling back to the image cat6000-sup32pfc3cvk9.8-6-5.bin   but the same error persisted.

Again tried loading wit the image  cat6000-sup32pfc3cvk8.8-4-4.bin   and the system booted up properly.

The following troble shooting has been done to make the sup module working but did not help

1. Tried in a different slot

2. Tried in a different chassis.

3. Only booted up sup module with out any other modules in tha chassis.

The same cat6000-sup32pfc3k9.8-7-2a.bin image was booted up in another sup 32 modules properly.

So I think its a hardware issue but keen to know why the old image was booting properly and not the higher versions of image...

Please if some one could help.

Thanks
