6509 adding a redundant supervisor

I would like to add a redundant supervisor to my core 6509. Is this tricky to do? I know they have to be running the same IOS. I am worried if I put the new supervisor in it will write over the exsisting running config. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Only the Sup32, VS-Sup720 and the new VS-Sup2T support dual supervisor.
