i tried disabling the diagnostic monitor for the module, did a power enable module command and then reset it but it still fails.

this is the third blade that i am replacing in a few weeks and i still get the same error. i am persuded that it is not a hardware since it is the third blade in a matter of weeks.

after the module reset, i receive this error % module 3 is operationally off (FRU-power failed)

could an ios upgrade solve this issue? are there any ios related bugs?

thanks for the help.

I think you should open a TAC Case.  You've got a hardware failure with the line card.  Please include the "sh log" that you've posted with the TAC Case.

Hi,

If you are having problem with multiple blades in the same slot, take a flash light have a look at the pins in the back of the chassis and make sure the pins on the backplane are not bend.  You are running a very old IOS (SXI2).  If I remember correctly, this version was differed, so it is a good idea to load a newer version, but I don't think that is your issue.

Seeing you have 6 open slots have you tried any slot besides 3 ?   If you run it in one of the other slots and its ok then you know it is an issue in the chassis slot .

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I believe the 6516 line card is NOT COMPATIBLE with the Sup32.

Think he is ok , I would try a different slot and see what happens. For sup32 he needs 12.2 SXF code , he is running SXI code.

Now that Glen has shown me that the module works with Sup32, can I ask if you console to the chassis, reseat the blade and post the entire bootup process of this line card?

Hello all and thanks for you helpful post.

@leolaohoo, the output is below. when the slot is placed in another chassis, it work. so it is more likely a defected backplane. all the pins seem normal
