6509s/Ping outside nat, inside address replies

Need some advice on a static nat problem. I have 2 6509s with directly connected hosts. Primary 6509 nats are working fine but secondary 6509 pings to its external nat addresses replies with internal address when I ping from destination network. 6509s are supporting a lab environment with no vtp and a basic HSRP setup. Hopefully the attached excerpts provide enough detail...

Thanks!!!

Re: 6509s/Ping outside nat, inside address replies

Hi

Your default gateway for the 10.11.57.x clients is on the 6509-1 switch. This means that the static translations on the 6509-2 switch will never be used because the traffic from, for example, 10.11.57.60 will go to 6509-2 then switched across the trunk to 6509-1 then routed off to wherever you are going. Only when the traffic is routed would the NAT take affect.

I think you would need to have all NAT translations on both switches for this work.
