  Hello,

I was scanning a portion of my network for available addressing and active devices. I did a scan of  the 10.105.127.0/24 network and I noticed that the vlan interface on the 6513 was sending replies for non-existent devices. For example a reply was sent back for 10.105.127.192 - and that device is not in use. I verified the ARP and Mac tables that this addy was not in use. If i ping from the router, i get timeouts...

I'm using solar winds to scans and it will send back this:

10.105.127.192 :Core6513.domain.pvt

Cisco WSC 6513 : Catalyst 6000 series chassis with 13 slots

thanks, everyone

Hi,

Your interfaces have proxy-arp enabled. You can disable proxy-arp with the interface command: no ip proxy-arp.

regards

John
