Installed 2 new 6704-10gb blades in 2x 6509 routers.
Routers are already configured with 1x 10gb-LR crossconnect between each router with a simple /30 between them. Working fine.
After the upgrade. Initially I want to setup a 30gb port channel between the router, but for some reason, i was unable to ping across the interface. I then removed the channel, and just setup a /30 on a new interface and tried to ping across and could not. I also added an ipv6 address to each side and THAT was pingable.
Here is my config:
R1
|
| Single Mode fiber Cable.
|
R2
interface TenGigabitEthernet4/1
description int 4/1 test
ip address 10.1.1.2 255.255.255.0
no ip unreachables
no cdp enable
end
R1
interface TenGigabitEthernet4/1
description int 4/1 test
ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
no ip unreachables
end
Link lights come up fine, and like I said, if I add an ipv6 address to both sides, I can ping across. But I cannot ping 10.1.1.1 nor 10.1.1.2 from the other side.
Now I have 2x more 10gb blades in slot #3. When connected to t3/4 on both sides using the SAME 10GB-LR and same cable, and even same above configuration, it works fine.

Thanks.

Hello Gurpreet,
for correctly supporting the 6708 linecards with 8 10GE ports we needed to move from 12.2(18)SXF to 12.2(33)SHa.
What IOS release are you using ?
minimum version is 12.2(17a)SX
see
Hope to help

We are using:
Version 12.2(18)SXF9
If it didn't support it, then the other blade wouldn't be working fine.
Nor would ipv6 work :/
really odd that ipv4 doesn't work.
I even swapped blades around, and just doesn't work in slot 4 for ipv4.
