802.1d e 802.1w mixed: are all the Vlans in Rapid?

Hello to all, I have this problem:

2 switches:

Switch A 48 port in RAPID-PVST+

Switch B 24 port in 802.1d

Switch B is connected to switch A through port 1 in trunk

There are VLAN 2,4 and 8 in Switch A and only VLAN 2,8 in Switch B

The question is:

How is the behaviour of the rapid spanning tree on Switch A?... are all the VLANs in Rapid spanning tree on Switch A?...

I ask this because there is Switch B connected on port 1 of switch A in trunk in 802.1d

Best Regards!

Hi

As far as i understand if vlan 4 is only on switch A and it is not allowed on the trunk port to switch B then rapid-pvst+ will run for this vlan.

For vlan 2 & 8 because they span both switches 802.1d will run for these vlans in terms of timers etc.

Note that if you have just pruned rather than cleared vlan 4 off the trunk then vlan 4 will also default to 802.1d timers.

It will work fine, but the 802.1D switch will still go through the slower timers 9 2 x Foward delay) when changes occur.
