A strange scenario.

I have added an image with a simple network.

I wondered, even if the access link between the two switches should be in the same VLAN,

what would happen if one end was in VLAN 10 and the other in VLAN 20.

I would have thought that it was possible the pings between PC 1 and PC 4, but the

simulator says the pings fail.

As the simulator sometimes is in error, what do you think?

I do not know if there is a control about the VLANs on the two ends of the link.

Thanks.

Re: A strange scenario.

If the interconnect between the switches is using access ports then yes PC1 will be able to ping PC4 with actual hardware. In this particular instance the simulator is wrong if the ports are access ports.
