Access layer and distribution layer switch models

Q1.  Is it possible to have 2960X series switches as an access layer switch connected to a 3850 series switch as a distribution layer? or any suggestions about the right way of choosing series of switch.

Q2. What is the difference between IP base and Lan Base switch.? Is it possible to have that on the same network design?

Depends on the budget, but yes.  2960X can be an access layer switch and the 3850 can be a distro/core switch.

Yes.  2960X, ideally, should be LAN Base (I wouldn't even touch LAN Lite) and the 3850 would be IP Base.

When purchasing the 3850, start with IP Base.  If you want to upgrade the feature to IP Services it's easy.
