Access Proxy Server Via Router

Hello Gents

If a router is running as a DHCP Server for the Private LAN, than how is it possible to automatically given the dhcp-clients the address of Proxy Server which is residing on the public WAN.

The local network is on 10 network and Public network is on 200.10.1.128/29 network. The Proxy Server IP is 200.10.1.130. I want the DHCP-Server of the router to advertise this address as well to the clients.

Thanks and Regards

Re: Access Proxy Server Via Router

The HTTP proxy settings of a client are attributes of the Web Browser application. It is not therefore possible to configure the proxy server configuration of a client from the DHCP server. It might be possible to use destination NAT to force all port 80 traffic to go to the Proxy server but such a config would not be advisable or supported since the client/proxy server would not be interacting correctly.
