Adding a third 2950g-l3 switch

Hi,

i have 2 2948g-l3 connected together using the gigaports with HSRP enabled. Port 1 of switch A is connected on port 2 of the router (1800 series) and port 1 of switch B is connected on port 3 of the router. All remaining ports are used.

The L3 switches handle all inter-vlan information.

My question is based on adding a third 2948g-l3. I added the third switch by connecting port 1 of switch C to port 48 of switch A and port 48 of switch C to port 48 of switch B . I never added switches before. I just want to make sure that i'm not missing anything.

can someone confirm ??

thx

Re: Adding a third 2950g-l3 switch

Hi,

I assumed that the switch A & B are responsible for the intervlan routing. Switch C vlans are going to the switch A or B for intervlan routing, but I didn't seen any trunk configuration on the switch C ports connected to the Switch A & B on ports 48.

Re: Adding a third 2950g-l3 switch

Hi aijaz,

yes, switch A & B are responsible for vlan routing.

On switch C, i created 9 subinterface on port 1 which creates my trunk with switch B and again 9 subinterface on port 48 which creates my trunk with switch A.

I need to remind you that this are 2948 switches not 2950. The trunk command does not exist on 2948G-l3 switches.

knowing that, does the config make sense ?

thx
