Adding subinterface to a PIX 501

Hi,

I need to add a subinterface to the interface1 (inside) interface to my PIX. What I want to do is to add vlan100 to the interface. With a IP address.

Everytime I try to go interface ethernet1.100 it will just go back to the router(config): and not do anything. What it the right commands for this please.

Will I be able to do this, I need the PIX to work like a router on a stick for the 2 vlan ( default and vlan100 ).

Thank you

Etienne

As far as i know the pix 501 does not support 802.1q vlan tagging. The minimum pix model that does is the pix 506E with code 6.3(4) so i'm afraid you can't do that.

You would need either a router or a L3 switch to do inter-vlan routing.
