We have a special testing in switch 3750. Copy the file from switch to one desktop. If there is no connection to the desktop, the copy process will time out after about 30 seconds. Is there any way to change this value? We want to have a very short time timeout. Thanks for the help.
You can change the timeout by modifying the TCP SYN wait time but note that it affects all TCP connection initated from the switch.
ip tcp synwait-time
To set a period of time the Cisco IOS software waits while attempting to establish a TCP connection before it times out, use the ip tcp synwait-timecommand in global configuration mode. To restore the default time, use the no form of this command.
ip tcp synwait-timeseconds
no ip tcp synwait-timeseconds
Time (in seconds) the software waits while attempting to establish a TCP connection. It can be an integer from 5 to 300 seconds. The default is 30 seconds.
The default time is 30 seconds.
Global configuration (config)
Refer to the Command Reference and look for ip tcp synwait-time
